New Trim Packages for the 2016 Ford Mustang – Plano, TX

The 2016 Ford Mustang will be getting a few new standard features, with new packages available for Mustang fans across the nation. Fastback and convertible Mustangs will see the return of the California Special Package and Pony Package, which were both popular trim levels in the 1960s, and options like new stripes and wheels will allow owners to individualize their cars even more.

For the first time in decades, the Mustang GT will have hood vent-integrated turn signals, which was a very popular option back when first offered in 1967. Mustang fans have been clamoring for this feature, and will now be able to get this iconic piece of Mustang history on their own pony car.

Returning in 2016 is over-the-top racing stripes from the factory offered in black or silver, as well as a painted black roof option available for EcoBoost Mustang and Mustang GT models.

The Pony Package will have unique 19-inch aluminum wheels, side stripes and chrome window surround. A Black Accent Package will be available for Mustang GT models, with 19-inch black-painted alloy wheels, black decklid spoiler, dark taillamp trim and black emblems.

The California Special Package will bring 19-inch ebony-painted aluminum wheels, leather seats with Miko suede inserts and red contrast stitching, unique aluminum dashboard finish, black pedestal spoiler, strut tower brace, dark taillamp accents, performance front splitter and more.

Mustang GT convertible buyers can now order the Performance Package with a manual transmission for 2016, which features increased structural bracing and revised suspension components, brakes, wheels and tires. Also included are a larger radiator, upsized sway bar, six-piston Brembo front brake calipers, summer tires on 19-inch wheels and Torsen limited-slip differential.

Ford’s next-generation SYNC 3 system will also be available for 2016, with a faster, more intuitive and easier to use interface, improved voice command and AppLink functionality. The system will also now be able to be updated over any unlocked Wi-Fi network, making it easier than ever to stay up to date.
