Engine Upgrades for 2018 Ford Super Duty
The Ford F-Series Super Duty heads into 2018 with more power than ever, thanks to an upgraded 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel engine. It has best-in-class 450 hp and 935 lb-ft of torque, making the Super Duty the most capable heavy-duty truck when it comes to power, torque, gooseneck towing, conventional towing and payload capacity.
An all-new 4×2 model of the F-450 allows for increased gooseneck towing capacity of 34,000 pounds, a 1,500 pound improvement over other Super Duty models. The F-450 Super Duty 4×2 can be purchased by both retail and fleet customers, and is available in XL, XLT, Lariat and Platinum trim levels.
The 2018 Ford Super Duty’s diesel engine was upgraded with redesigned cylinder heads for added strength, and Ford’s engineers optimized fuel and turbo boost calibrations for improved horsepower and torque.
Ford is also the only heavy-duty truck manufacturer that builds its own diesel engine and transmission combinations, allowing them to optimize performance across the entire lineup of Super Duty pickups. By looking at the needs of its customers, Ford can refine the powertrain for improved strength, efficiency and durability during everyday use.
