Ford Adds More Places for Your Devices in the 2017 Fusion

Every year the number of devices people carry with them continues to grow, and Ford has had to rethink the car interior and add more storage space and connectivity options for today’s latest technology. Today one in three Americans own a smartphone, a tablet and a computer, an increase of 140 percent from just three years ago.

Ford 2017 Ford engineers added 59 percent more storage space to the Fusion for devices compared to the previous model, thanks to a variety of ergonomic enhancements. New easy to reach bins throughout the cabin have more space and there is a dedicated new phone pocket and an area for small coins.

A revamped media bin found under the 8-inch touch screen now has a lighted USB port for easy connectivity, and the new layout allows for better cord management so your USB cables don’t tangle or snag. Fusion drivers can also connect their smartphone to the available SYNC 3 system with AppLink.

A sleek new rotary gear shift dial replaces the old style shifter found in the previous Fusion, freeing up valuable space on the center console in addition to being more aesthetically pleasing. Ford also moved the driver-assist and electronic parking brake controls to more intuitive locations, which allowed for a longer armrest and improved driver comfort.

Nearly three-quarters of U.S. adults now own a smartphone, so Ford has updated SYNC 3 across its entire lineup with new features and apps. The addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto makes connecting your iPhone or Android device easier than ever, giving you access to your favorite apps and voice controls right from the vehicle’s touch screen.
