New 2015 Ford F-150 named Truck of Texas – Dallas, TX

The all-new 2015 Ford F-150 was named the Truck of Texas at this year’s Texas Auto Writers Association Truck Rodeo. The members of the TAWA exhaustively tested 75 vehicles from 18 brands before deciding on a winner. This makes the ninth win in the last 12 years for Ford with the Truck of Texas title.

The Texas auto writers were impressed with the extensive engineering that went into designing the new 2015 F-150. The use of high-strength steel and military-grade aluminum alloy has allowed Ford to save up to 700 pounds of weight in the new F-150. The dramatic weight savings results in greater fuel efficiency, increased towing capacity and improved hauling capacity.

The new 2.7 liter EcoBoost V6 joins the already well-liked 3.5 liter EcoBoost and 5.0 liter V8. A new 3.5 liter normally aspirated V6 replaces the 3.7 liter model from last year. The Texas auto writers were also impressed with the levels of luxury found in many of the new F-150’s trim levels. The TAWA named the 2015 Ford F-150 Platinum the Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas, and the 2015 Ford F-150 King Ranch the Full-Size Pickup Truck of Texas.

Taking home the title of Commercial Vehicle of Texas, the all-new 2015 Ford Transit was also well-liked by the TAWA. The new Transit offers up to 75 percent more cargo capacity than the outgoing E-Series vans. When equipped with the 3.5 liter EcoBoost engine, the Transit can deliver up to 46 percent better fuel efficiency compared to the 6.8 liter V10 in the E-Series.

The TAWA also named the Ford Motor Company the Truck Line of Texas, and named the use of aluminum in the new F-150 the Best Technology Feature.
