The trim levels of the 2022 Ford Expedition MAX combine their own unique assortment of fun features to improve each drive. From technology enhancements to comfortable amenities, drivers near Dallas, Plano, or Richardson, Texas, will be able to select the level that best speaks to their needs.

In this Ford Expedition MAX trim levels article, we’ll outline the levels and some of the features you can expect. Contact us at Five Star Ford Dallas if you have questions about a certain feature or would like to schedule a test drive.

XLT

The XLT is the first Ford Expedition level to offer the MAX version. Measuring almost 12 inches longer than the regular Expedition, it will provide greater cargo space for solo drivers on serious outdoor adventures or for families who need more luggage room. For example, the Expedition MAX offers a maximum cargo capacity of 121.5 cubic feet compared to the 104.6 cubic feet of the regular Expedition.

Not only is there a lot of cargo space, but there’s also a lot of power rumbling from under the hood. A standard V6 engine delivers up to 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, you’ll see a maximum towing capacity of 9,300 pounds.

Timberline

The Timberline trim is more robust in its capability. While the previous trim offers the choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, Timberline equips the vehicle with all-wheel drive right from the get-go. Additionally, it has a more powerful high-output V6 engine that produces up to 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.

As a result of this drivetrain difference, its towing capacity drops slightly to 9,200 pounds when properly equipped. The Timberline more than makes up for it, however. Capable features only seen on this trim include Trail Turn Assist to corner around some tight circles, and 10.6 inches of ground clearance to take on some rough terrain.

The Timberline trim can also be upgraded to include plenty of technology. The standard 12-inch touchscreen can now be 15.5 inches for easier viewing. There’s also available Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ to move the trailer with exactness via a knob.

Limited

The Limited adds its own set of comfortable and customizable features while featuring many amenities also found on Timberline. Some of these amenities include ventilated front seats, and a 10-way power driver’s seat to really feel luxurious.

The Limited goes on to feature various design touches, like a special leather-wrapped steering wheel and floor mats that you’ll only find with this trim.

King Ranch

The King Ranch does the same with its interior design and comes with its own leather trim on the steering wheel as well as floor mats with the King Ranch logo. On the outside, you’ll find a special King Ranch badge to further display your trim-level choice.

Many amenities seen on this trim are also found on those above and below. These include a hands-free foot-activated liftgate to pack up that spacious cargo area, a wireless charging pad to power up your phone, and two third-row USB charging ports for passengers to do the same.

Platinum

If you like peak exclusivity, then you’ll love the Platinum trim level of the Expedition MAX. It’s the only one to offer the upgraded technology feature of Ford BlueCruise. This hands-free system uses, among other features, Adaptive Cruise Control and a driver-facing camera to keep you cruising down the highway with greater ease.

This trim demonstrates more exclusivity through its engine. The base V6 mentioned earlier will instead provide up to 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque when it’s found in the Platinum level.
